Blog
Build a referral programme that works.
I write about what we test at The Rave. What works, what does not and what I would do next.
Notes from the work
Your customers already talk about your brand. Give them a reason to do it more often.
I want more Shopify brands to own the word of mouth they already create. It matters because a good customer recommendation carries more weight than another paid ad.
The problem is rarely demand. Customers already tell friends about products they rate. The problem is that most brands leave the process to chance, so they cannot measure it, improve it or reward the person who made the sale happen.
This blog covers the work behind a proper referral and affiliate programme. The offer. The timing. The message. The follow-up. Small decisions that decide whether people share once, share again or ignore the programme completely.
I will share what we test at The Rave and what we learn from the brands running it. No theory for the sake of it. If something does not work, I will say so. If it works, I will show you how to run it.
Set the offer
The reward has to earn the share. I break down cash commissions, flat rewards and friend discounts, then show how to match the offer to what your store already runs. Clear beats clever. Customers should know what they get in one read.
Ask at the right time
Timing changes the result. The delivery moment is strong because the customer has the product and the excitement is real. I cover the emails to send, the gaps between them and when to stop. Two useful messages beat six weak ones.
Run it properly
A programme fails when it creates work for the team or doubt for the customer. I write about sign-up, tracking, returns and payouts. The rule is simple. People should know what they earned, when they get paid and what happens next.
Start with the behaviour you want.
A referral programme is not a widget you switch on and forget. It is a system. More customers need to share. Each share needs to reach the right person. The friend needs a clear reason to buy. Then the customer needs a reason to do it again.
That is the work. The guides below break it into decisions you can make this week. Use what fits. Test it. Keep what moves the number. Cut what does not.
